Apartments in the countryside in the Chianti area
The Chianti hills are a gentle wavy chain between the provinces of Florence, Siena and Arezzo and characterize this land dear to men since the dawn of time. From the historical point of view, for centuries, Chianti has included the area of ??the municipalities of Gaiole, Radda and Castellina, part of the old Lega del Chianti, established in 1384 by the Florentine Republic and which had as its symbol the still very famous cock black. With the establishment of the wine area, in 1932, the territory known as Chianti was considerably expanded.
The history of this territory has always been inextricably linked to the wines produced in these areas, and not only. Chianti is therefore the ideal destination for a trip in the Tuscan enogastronomic tradition: the municipalities present in this area, in fact, are part of the production area of ??the Chianti DOCG red wine, well-known throughout the world. The vines of Sangiovese, at the base of the Chianti Classico, are distributed on the hills of this territory, leaving space, here and there, to villages and perched villages whose streets emanate the perfumes of the cellars. This wine goes perfectly with tasty products such as cold cuts - perhaps of the local Cinta Senese - and with dishes that come from local kitchens, dishes that recover food that traditionally fed the poor, now ennobled to the point of becoming delicious ingredients of the finest kitchens international: just think of dishes like ribollita, stuffed neck, chicken livers and tripe.
A perfect way to not miss a single stop in this area, is to cross it along the Chiantigiana, the road that from Florence reaches Siena so loved by motorcyclists. The stops will take the form of inevitable towns such as Greve in Chianti, with its curious triangular square surrounded by arcades, Castellina, with its fortress, home to the archaeological museum, and will appear in all their typical villages such as Montefioralle and Panzano. Losing oneself among the alleys of these inhabited areas can turn out to be a fortune when, suddenly, one finds oneself in this submerged shop of flasks or in that historical butchery, not to mention the privilege of being able to end up in an original Wine Museum.
However, Chianti is not just wine. This is a land that has seen ancient populations - as shown by various Etruscan testimonies - famous artists and architects and which today sees numerous collections of sacred art and interesting works. Spectacular is the Chianti Sculpture Park, which combines the scenic beauty of this area with creations and installations by artists from all over the world.
If so many sculptors from the world arrived here with their works, so too have the images of these campaigns traveled abroad. And if you are used to seeing them covered by convertible flaming red, you will be surprised seeing a swarm of bicycles under the name of Eroica, a race all vintage that has as unique (so to speak!) Race award to run for the enchanted landscapes of Chianti
